Department of Investigation Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn says Duane Lang could spend up to eight years in prison if convicted of reckless endangerment and possession of a forged instrument.

Authorities say the pair had unprotected sex eight to 10 times, from December 2007 to March 2008. When the woman later questioned the document's authenticity, Lang allegedly admitted that it was fake and he was HIV positive.

Her medical status is not being made public.

The criminal complaint says the fake document bore the name of a facility where he'd volunteered.
